A Very Dirty Christmas’ Title Sparks Outrage, CAN Cautions Ini Edo

The Christian Association of Nigeria has expressed sharp disapproval of the title of a new Nollywood movie, A Very Dirty Christmas, starring actress Ini Edo, calling it inappropriate and morally offensive as the country approaches the festive season. The association said the movie’s title casts a negative light on the meaning of Christmas and could mislead audiences about the spirit of the holiday. In its public statement, CAN said the title A Very Dirty Christmas suggested moral decay and disrespect for a sacred period celebrated by millions of Christians in Nigeria and globally. CAN added that creative expression should not come at the expense of values that define and unite the community.
