2027: APC Primary a Sham, Tinubu Should Intervene – Senator Ayodele Arise
Omoyeni Olabode

Senator Ayodele Arise, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and an aspirant for the Ekiti North Senatorial District ticket, has heavily criticized the party's recent primary election, labeling the entire exercise a "sham."
Arise has issued an urgent appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and address the deepening crisis trailing the controversial outcome of the internal elections.
The APC primary election committee previously declared the sitting lawmaker, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, as the winner of the Ekiti North ticket. However, Senator Arise, along with fellow contenders Dipo Bamisaye and Dare Owolabi, dismissed the results as highly manipulated, fraudulent, and a complete subversion of internal democracy.
Expressing disappointment over the circumvention of the party's guidelines, Arise emphasized that the APC cannot continue to pay lip service to internal crises. He stressed that leaders who have the voice to correct these systemic anomalies must speak up to protect democratic processes before it is too late.
Despite his grievances, Arise expressed measured optimism, stating he believes the party's national chairman has briefed the President on the widespread controversies. He added that President Tinubu has a proactive track record of fixing such structural issues and expressed hope that mandates would eventually be restored to those who legitimately won their elections.
What are your thoughts on Senator Arise's comments regarding the overbearing influence of state governors on party primaries? Do you think direct presidential intervention is the best way to handle internal party disputes? Let me know in the comments below!
