WORD OF GOD FOR TODAY
Omoyeni Olabode

1 Thessalonians 5:18 is our foundational scripture for the above topic we are considering.
The Samaritan leper who was healed along with other nine lepers (Luke 17:11–21) turned back in gratitude to Jesus and thereby gained something unexpected: Jesus Himself. There is no record of the other nine; presumably, they lived and died as pious Jews, never really understanding the full significance of their cure. The Samaritan man did not do a runner rather he returned to the source of miracle, Jesus Christ, thereby he gained eternal life. Jesus looked upon the grateful man and remarked, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine, where are they?” Where are you in your daily thanksgiving unto your God?
I come to realise that it is so easy to thank God when things are working fine but feel the contrary when things fall apart. My brethren it ought not to be so. People find it easy to thank God for a new job, but difficult to praise Him when they lose it. Being grateful to God is easy when our children are obedient, but nearly impossible when they run wild! Because of our human nature, our gratitude increases in the good times and wanes when things do not work out the way we wanted them to be.
To cope well in whatever weather we found ourselves is to learn how to operate in our spiritual (high life) rather than (lower life) our human nature. Thanking Him in times of trouble requires a step of faith that God always honours. When we thank God even during hard times, two important things happen within us. First, we are reminded of His enduring presence in our lives. Second, we are reminded of the complete dependence upon Him. Do not cease to thank God today for the hardships in your life for very soon your morning will come and He will turn those challenges around for your good.
Wise Saying
Those who resent your influence will cooperate with your downfall.

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world; a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
