VeryDarkMan Calls Out Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid for Flaunting Billion‑Naira Cars Amid National Hardship

Controversial social media critic VeryDarkMan has publicly criticized Nigerian music superstars Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid for purchasing ultra‑luxury vehicles at a time when many citizens face economic challenges. In a viral Instagram video, he took aim at their recent acquisitions—Burna Boy’s new ₦3.5 billion McLaren Sienna, Davido’s 2026 Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 valued at ₦1.2 billion, and Wizkid’s ₦1.7 billion supercar—as tone‑deaf and insensitive given Nigeria’s financial struggles.
VeryDarkMan directly questioned the artists’ social responsibility, asking: “Don’t you people read the room? Una no really dey see country wey una come from?” He challenged Davido—whom he knows personally—to highlight tangible contributions he has made to Osun State or wider Nigerian society, beyond these extravagant purchases.
However, Portable, another Nigerian musician, quickly defended the trio and ridiculed VeryDarkMan’s stance. Portable reminded him of charitable acts by the superstars—such as Burna Boy’s ₦20 million donation to him, Davido’s history of philanthropic giving, and the N100 million support from Don Jazzy. He dismissed VeryDarkMan’s critique, urging him to focus on his own actions and reminding him how he once “drank pure water” before purchasing his own car:
“VeryDarkMan… Burna Boy gave me ₦20 million… Doesn’t Davido help people?… Nigeria is not hungry, you’re the one that is hungry.”
The debate has sparked fierce reactions online, with some followers siding with Portable’s defense of wealth and charity, while others argue that celebrities should show more sensitivity and direct impact during tough economic times. As the discourse continues, the spotlight remains on how Nigeria’s biggest stars balance flamboyant lifestyles with social accountability.
