UEFA, Fine, Bayern Munich, €89,625, Fan Pitch Invasion, Injured Photographers

Bayern Munich have been fined €89,625 by UEFA following a fan invasion that left several photographers injured during their Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid.

The incident occurred earlier in April at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern scored late goals to secure qualification for the semi-finals. In the aftermath of the dramatic victory, a group of supporters breached security barriers from the ultras section, spilling onto the pitch-side area.

According to reports, the situation escalated as celebrating fans trampled over photographers stationed near the touchline. One photographer suffered a concussion, while another sustained a head injury, with others requiring medical attention.

UEFA imposed the fine after reviewing multiple breaches, including spectator misconduct, the display of an anti-UEFA banner, blocked stadium aisles, and the throwing of objects. The sanctions were broken down into separate penalties for each offence.

Despite the seriousness of the incident, Bayern avoided a potential stadium ban or supporter lockout for their upcoming semi-final fixture against Paris Saint-Germain.

Club sporting director Christoph Freund had earlier expressed optimism that fans would still be allowed to attend the match, a position later confirmed by UEFA’s decision.

The case has once again raised concerns about crowd control and fan behaviour at major European fixtures, particularly during high-stakes matches where emotions often run high.
