Tinubu Tells Governor Sanwo-Olu "All Is Forgiven" After GAC Intervention
Omoyeni Olabode

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended an olive branch to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, declaring that “all is forgiven” following a series of reconciliatory efforts led by influential members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC). The peace gesture came after weeks of speculation about a rift between the two prominent political figures, largely stemming from internal party disagreements and recent decisions taken by the Lagos State government.
According to sources close to the matter, Tinubu’s remarks were made during a closed-door meeting with Sanwo-Olu and several senior GAC leaders who pleaded for unity and reconciliation. The president, who has long held sway over Lagos politics, reportedly emphasized the need for cooperation and cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party continues to manage both state and national responsibilities.
Observers say the move to mend fences is a strategic one, especially considering the complex political dynamics in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre. Sanwo-Olu, who has maintained relative political loyalty, had recently come under scrutiny over administrative decisions that may have been perceived as diverging from the president’s expectations or traditional party structures.
With Tinubu's statement of forgiveness, political tensions within Lagos APC appear to be easing, at least for now. The development may help reinforce party unity and refocus energy on governance and development. For both Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, the reconciliation marks a return to political alignment at a time when national stability and economic reform remain top priorities.
