President Bola Tinubu has approved the full payment of all outstanding allowances and match bonuses due to the Super Falcons ahead of their final match in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). This was announced by National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko, who confirmed that payments covering all matches up to the final on July 26 have been disbursed for immediate release to players, coaches, and officials.

As part of a broader effort to clear accumulated debts across the national sports sector, the directive includes the settlement of a ₦12 billion backlog owed to senior national team coaches and staff, including those of D’Tigress and the Under‑20 squads. The initiative is presented as a key part of President Tinubu’s renewed policy focus on respectful and prompt treatment of Nigerian athletes.

Dikko described the arrangement as “policy in motion,” promising that timely payment of entitlements will now become the norm. He further assured that the improved financial treatment will extend beyond football, stating that Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will also benefit from enhanced bonuses as they prepare for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket campaign in Côte d’Ivoire.
