Tinubu, Digital & Creative Economy Aide

In a statement released on Monday, 8 September 2025, the Presidency announced the immediate dismissal of Fegho John Umunubo, who served as Special Assistant on Digital and Creative Economy in the Office of the Vice-President, Kashim Shettima.

The statement, issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, emphasised that Umunubo no longer represents the Tinubu administration in any capacity.

It also warned stakeholders, both within Nigeria and abroad, that engaging with him “in the name of President Tinubu’s administration” would be at their own risk.

The disengagement signals a clear break from previous representation. Henceforth, organisations engaging with Umunubo must ensure they're dealing with legitimate agents of the Presidency. Also, the motive behind the decision has not been disclosed.

So, those in the digital and creative economy should closely monitor further announcements to identify any replacement or reassignment.
