Real Madrid are reportedly planning to move on from long-serving left-back Ferland Mendy ahead of the upcoming season. According to reports, the club has signalled to interested buyers, including Arsenal and Tottenham, that Mendy is available, indicating he is no longer central to their future defensive plans .

To fill the void, Los Blancos have narrowed their recruitment to two main targets: Álvaro Carreras, a 22-year-old Real Madrid youth product currently at Benfica, and Miguel Gutiérrez, now at Girona but still part-owned by Real Madrid. Both players are viewed as technical fits for Xabi Alonso’s system and offer balance between defensive solidity and attacking support .

Fran García, another backup option at left-back, is expected to be the one who stays if Real opts to retain two in the position. However, with Carreras’ arrival confirmed and Alonso’s tactical preference for versatile, attacking full-backs, Mendy is increasingly likely to depart when the transfer window opens .
