Popular content creator and comedian César Gastélum, widely known for his comedic TikTok broadcasts, was shot and killed during a live stream outside a fast-food restaurant in Culiacán, the capital of Mexico's Sinaloa state. The tragic attack occurred in broad daylight while Gastélum was broadcasting with two friends as part of a social media challenge, with all three dressed in delivery worker jackets. According to footage reviewed by authorities, two men on a motorcycle pulled up to the group before the driver opened fire at close range, fatally striking Gastélum in the head before fleeing the scene.

Local law enforcement initially reported the victim as a food delivery driver due to his outfit before identifying him as the 25-year-old social media personality who had amassed over 500,000 followers on TikTok. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and local prosecutors confirmed that a security operation is underway to arrest the perpetrators and investigate potential ties to organized crime or social media posts referencing local cartel factions.
