Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, has expressed strong support for the Supreme Court’s decision to remove Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

Speaking during a media chat with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Benin, Imasuen—who was elected under the LP—welcomed the ruling and criticized Abure's leadership.

He accused the former chairman of running the party as a personal enterprise, lacking commitment to its values and progress.

“I welcome the Supreme Court judgment that removed Barrister Julius Abure. Unfortunately, his leadership was self-serving and divisive. Rather than unify the party, he fueled internal conflicts and legal battles,” Imasuen said.

He added that Abure’s actions had done more harm than good, and the Supreme Court’s intervention was timely and necessary.

Imasuen, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, revealed that the committee has received over 300 petitions since the beginning of the 10th National Assembly. He noted that about 20 have been processed, with many others nearing resolution.
