Senate President Godswill Akpabio Says He Travelled to Rome to Pray for Nigeria Against Insecurity, Terrorism, and Banditry

Nigeria's Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has disclosed that he recently travelled to Italy on a spiritual pilgrimage to offer intercessory prayers for the nation and its leadership amidst ongoing security challenges.

Speaking during a visit to the Prayer Ground of Saint Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy, Akpabio explained that his journey to Rome—a city deeply significant to the Catholic faith—was driven by his belief in divine intervention to complement the government's efforts in securing the country.

The Senate President revealed that his prayers specifically targeted ending the widespread menace of terrorism, banditry, and general insecurity across Nigeria, while also seeking spiritual guidance for key public officials.

I prayed for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the National Assembly, the Federal Executive Council, and Nigeria generally.”

Akpabio described the journey as a "slight pilgrimage" rooted in his Christian faith, emphasizing that physical security measures must be paired with spiritual protection.
