Rwanda’s head coach, Adel Amrouche, expressed his disappointment after his team’s 1–0 loss to Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the 2026 World Cup qualifier held at Uyo’s Godswill Akpabio Stadium. Despite the result, he praised his side’s effort and particularly highlighted the performance of their goalkeeper, Ntwari Fiacre.
Reflecting on the match, Amrouche admitted regret that they had failed to exert enough pressure on Nigeria. He nonetheless insisted that his side executed their game plan well, lamenting that reaching the nets isn’t always about forcing opportunities but capitalising on opponents’ errors.
Amrouche also commended Nigeria’s head coach Éric Chelle, praising his tactical acumen and expressing respect for his counterpart. He stressed that Rwanda had prepared meticulously, building individual statistics and strategies for every Eagle player. The coach is optimistic that this lesson will sharpen his team's focus for future fixtures.
