The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support towards the programme’s peace building efforts in the Niger Delta.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, on Wednesday, Dr. Otuaro praised the President’s “tremendous” backing, noting that it reflects a strong commitment to fostering lasting peace and development across the oil-rich region.

Dr. Otuaro gave the commendation in Abuja during the opening of the second batch of a three-day Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Media Training. The training was organized by the PAP in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, a partnership aimed at equipping participants with the tools necessary to enhance peace and stability at the grassroots level.

“I am very grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for believing in the peacebuilding initiative undertaken by the PAP in our villages and communities in the Niger Delta,” Otuaro stated.

He also extended his appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, led by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for its critical contributions to the programme’s implementation. According to Otuaro, the NSA’s office has provided "valuable inputs and interventions" that have helped move the PAP's objectives forward.

Reaffirming his leadership's commitment to inclusivity, Dr. Otuaro emphasized the importance of empowering women, noting that they have been equally affected by the region’s historical struggles. “We are making deliberate efforts to include and empower women. They, too, are casualties of the crisis,” he said.

The PAP boss urged all participants to stay committed during the course of the training, stressing that the knowledge they would gain is vital to sustaining peace and preventing future conflicts in their communities.

With President Tinubu’s support and increased collaboration with national security stakeholders, the Presidential Amnesty Programme continues to advance its mission of transforming ex-agitators into productive citizens and strengthening peace across the Niger Delta.
