Police, Paul Adefarasin, Non-Lethal Object

Lagos State Police have officially cleared Pastor Paul Adefarasin of wrongdoing following a viral video that showed him holding what looked like a firearm. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the object in question was a stun gun, not a lethal weapon.

The case began in June when a video circulated showing Adefarasin in traffic, appearing to brandish the object from his car. The clip caused widespread public concern. Pastor Adefarasin later denied the claims, maintaining that he never pointed any gun at anyone.

According to SP Abimbola Adebisi, Lagos police spokesperson, Adefarasin voluntarily turned himself in at the Ikeja Command Headquarters. He was interrogated and made a cautionary statement. The stun gun’s non-lethal nature led the authorities to determine there were no sufficient grounds to pursue the matter further, and the case was discontinued.

In their public statement, the police emphasised their commitment to transparency and upholding the law while assuring Lagosians that sensitive matters would be handled with due diligence.
