Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has pledged to bring to justice all those responsible for the recent killings in Bokkos Local Government Area, where over 50 lives were lost.
During an interactive session with Plateau indigenes in Abuja, the governor firmly stated that the days of arrested suspects walking free are over, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to prosecuting anyone involved in the attacks.
“The pain of the people is my pain,” Governor Mutfwang said. “As your governor, I make this solemn vow: anyone who has spilled the blood of a Plateau citizen will be hunted down and held accountable. No one will go unpunished.”
He revealed that some arrests have already been made and that new security measures are being implemented to safeguard farmers ahead of the planting season.
“The lives lost in Bokkos will not be forgotten. These attacks are not random — they are calculated attempts to terrorize and impoverish our people at the start of every farming season. But we will not be intimidated. We will farm this year,” he declared.
While acknowledging the deep sorrow felt across the state, Governor Mutfwang explained that the decision to proceed with the meeting followed extensive consultations with community leaders both at home and in the diaspora. He praised the resilience of Plateau citizens and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift response and directive to federal agencies to deliver relief materials to the victims.
He also urged Plateau citizens in Abuja to remain united and uphold the values of peace, unity, tolerance, and excellence. Paying tribute to Ambassador Bagudu Hirse, he encouraged public servants to follow in his footsteps, describing him as a symbol of fairness and dedicated service.
Governor Mutfwang concluded with a call for solidarity across all divides, saying, “Our strength lies in our togetherness. Let’s support one another and build a better Plateau, hand in hand.”
