‘Peter Obi Said His Family Will Die If He Leaves APGA’ — Tinubu Aide Bwala
Omoyeni Olabode

Daniel Bwala, Policy Communications Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, has accused Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, of making a vow that his family would die if he ever left the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). According to Bwala, Obi first pledged loyalty to APGA in those dramatic terms before later defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and then to the Labour Party.
Bwala made the claims during a podcast with Nedu WAZOBIA. He used Obi’s party switches to argue that many Nigerian politicians are inconsistent in their declarations of loyalty. He questioned the extent to which Obi’s political interests align with those of the public, suggesting Obi’s actions show a pattern of prioritizing personal ambition over earlier promises.
In addition to the loyalty accusation, Bwala alleged that Obi’s gestures of philanthropy have been minimal. He claimed that Obi has never given more than fifty million naira in charitable or developmental contributions, and even then, under circumstances he implies were strategically designed rather than altruistic. He also criticized some of Obi’s interventions in regions like Northwest and North-central Nigeria, stating that they were ineffective.
Obi has not formally responded to these specific allegations. As the conversation around party loyalty and political integrity intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections, these claims are likely to influence public perceptions.
Do you believe Bwala’s account reflects the reality of Peter Obi’s political journey, or do you think this is an example of political rhetoric? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
