The Oyo State Government has allocated 3,000 hectares of land from the 7,581-hectare Ijaiye Farm Settlement in Akinyele Local Government Area for the development of a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) and a Wholesale Market. The initiative is part of the state’s strategic effort to enhance agribusiness, improve food systems, and stimulate economic growth.

This development aligns with the state’s broader agricultural transformation agenda and is backed by partnerships with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other stakeholders. The SAPZ will focus on agro-processing, value addition, and structured market systems.

According to the state government, the zone will be equipped with essential infrastructure to support agricultural activities and attract investments. It is expected to create employment opportunities, improve rural livelihoods, and boost the state’s position as a major food production and processing hub in Nigeria.

The remaining portion of the Ijaiye Farm Settlement is set for further development in line with Oyo’s long-term agricultural plans.
