The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially declared Chief Toyin Amuzu as its consensus candidate for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amuzu, a popular businessman and community leader who holds the traditional title of Leragun of Egba Land, previously flew the party’s flag for the same position during the 2023 elections. Party leaders in Abeokuta South stated that the decision to grant him an early ticket was born out of his unwavering loyalty to the party, his continuous financial support for the local chapter, and his sustained grassroots empowerment programs even after the last election cycle.
Accepting the endorsement, Amuzu expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the PDP for the confidence reposed in him. He noted that his early declaration would give the party ample time to build a formidable campaign structure capable of reclaiming the constituency. He urged all party faithful to remain united, drop past grievances, and work collectively to ensure victory for the PDP across Ogun State in 2027.
What do you think about the Ogun PDP’s strategy of declaring Toyin Amuzu as their candidate so early in the election cycle? Please drop your comments below!
