NIPOST, Cannabis, Duvet Shipment, Bangkok

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has intercepted a consignment containing seven pouches of cannabis concealed inside a duvet cover that arrived in Lagos from Bangkok, Thailand.

The parcel, addressed to a recipient in Lagos, was flagged on arrival, and both sender and receiver details are being withheld as security agencies carry out investigations.

In a statement, NIPOST described the interception as part of its commitment to ensuring its postal network is not abused for illicit trafficking, emphasising its zero-tolerance stance. The agency has handed over the consignment to the relevant security authorities for further action.

NIPOST said it remains steadfast in safeguarding the integrity of its operations, pledging tighter enforcement at all entry points and increased vigilance to prevent the misuse of postal services for criminal activity.
