Dele Momodu, the acclaimed publisher of Ovation International and a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declared during a live broadcast on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State that while his physical presence remains with the party, his “soul has left”. The remark came amid growing concerns about deep-seated divisions within the opposition party .

Momodu spoke candidly about the internal strife plaguing the PDP, suggesting that its members are being manipulated both from within and by external forces. He expressed disappointment that this disunity continues to dilute the party’s strength and jeopardize its chances in the forthcoming 2027 general elections .

He continued by emphasizing that if the PDP could heal its rifts and regain cohesion, it stands a fighting chance against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). However, Momodu lamented that the APC is actively working to destabilize the PDP, even as members defect, further weakening the party’s foundation .

Momodu’s dramatic declaration has ignited fresh speculation about a potential exit from the PDP, with many observers interpreting it as a symbolic break. It underscores growing unease among party loyalists and highlights internal tensions that may shape the political landscape leading into the next election cycle.
