Philomena Osawaru, mother to Natasha Idibia, surprised her son-in-law, legendary Nigerian singer Innocent “2Face” Idibia, during his 50th birthday celebration at their Lagos residence on Friday with a heartfelt request: she hopes to see a baby crawling around during her next visit. The statement came as Mrs. Osawaru praised 2Face, saying he looks younger with age and that she is delighted to have him as her son-in-law.

In her words, “By the time we come next, we will see the baby crawling around.” The comment was made amidst warm celebration and family gathering, paying tribute to his milestone age while also expressing maternal expectations in a light and affectionate way.

The event was captured for social media, with video footage shared reflecting Mrs. Osawaru’s emotional and joyful posture as she delivered the request. The remark has since elicited reactions from fans and followers online, some amused, others reflecting on the societal pressure married couples often face to have children.

2Face and Natasha have not issued any public statement in response to the request, and it remains part of private family dynamics. Meanwhile, many see the moment as an illustration of Nigerian cultural expectation around procreation after marriage, especially during family milestones.

What do you think of such cultural expectations? Should there be more sensitivity about asking about children in family settings? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
