Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a British-record £125 million, as confirmed by multiple sources. The 25-year-old has signed a long-term six-year contract, which will keep him at Anfield until 2031.

The transfer saga dominated the Premier League summer window. Isak’s desire to join Liverpool led to a stand-off with Newcastle, where he was sidelined after declaring his intention to leave. This move eclipses Liverpool’s previous record outlay of £116 million for Florian Wirtz earlier in the window.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot sees Isak as a vital addition to the squad as they aim to defend the Premier League title and mount a serious challenge in the Champions League. The arrival of a world-class striker adds significant firepower to a front line that had been weakened by recent departures, including the tragic loss of Diogo Jota.

A club statement confirmed: "Isak joins the Premier League champions as their new No. 9 on a long-term contract" following his successful medical and the formal completion of the deal. Isak expressed his excitement, stating that he is “super-happy to be a part of this club” and is motivated to win trophies and grow further with Liverpool.
