A Lagos High Court has ordered the immediate deportation of four Filipino nationals following their conviction for cyberterrorism and internet fraud. The judgment was delivered after months of legal proceedings in which the suspects were found guilty of orchestrating a series of sophisticated cyberattacks targeting Nigerian institutions and individuals.

According to court records, the convicted individuals operated as part of a transnational syndicate that used phishing schemes, identity theft, and malware to breach online systems and extract sensitive data. Authorities say the operation compromised financial platforms and posed a national security threat.

Justice Adebayo Lawal, who presided over the case, handed down varying prison sentences to the convicts before directing the Nigerian Immigration Service to deport them upon completion of their jail terms. He described their actions as “malicious, calculated, and damaging to Nigeria’s cyber infrastructure.”

The Nigerian government has reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime, particularly those involving foreign collaborators. This case highlights the increasing cooperation between law enforcement agencies and international partners to crack down on digital crimes threatening national and economic security.
