Afrobeats star Kizz Daniel has reclaimed full ownership of the master rights to his 2016 debut album, New Era, along with his hit singles “Yeba” and “Sofa”, from his former label, G‑Worldwide . In a celebratory post on X, the singer reflected on “long nights in the studio” and “several meditations,” expressing heartfelt gratitude to fans, writing, “I got my masters back. This means more than words can explain. Thank you for riding with me.”

New Era, released on May 14, 2016, marked Kizz Daniel’s breakout in the Nigerian music scene, launched under G‑Worldwide . Following his departure in November 2017, the singer bartered off the stage name “Kiss Daniel,” founded his imprint Flyboy Inc, and entered a protracted legal battle with G‑Worldwide, which claimed rights to both his name and catalog. The dispute was eventually settled, and Kizz Daniel was acquitted of the label’s infringement allegations.

Despite the tensions and trademark wrangles, the relationship between the two parties appears to have healed somewhat. Notably, in 2023, Kizz Daniel appointed G‑Worldwide founder Emperor Geezy as CEO of Flyboy Inc—a move widely interpreted as a step toward reconciliation in the industry . This symbolic gesture, along with the registry’s amicable legal resolve, paints a portrait of evolving cooperation and mutual respect.

Owning one’s masters is a major milestone for any artist, granting full creative control and revenue rights. For Kizz Daniel, regaining New Era is both a commercial triumph and a personal victory—closing a contentious chapter with G‑Worldwide while empowering him to more fully leverage his musical legacy. Fans and industry insiders alike are celebrating this as a pivotal moment in his career.
