Kasper Hjulmand Appointed New Head Coach of Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have officially appointed Kasper Hjulmand, the former Denmark national team manager, as their new head coach following the abrupt dismissal of Erik ten Hag. Hjulmand has signed a two-year contract and is tasked with steering the club through a major period of transition.
The club's leadership highlighted Hjulmand’s fit for the role, praising him as empathetic, communicative, and already familiar with the Leverkusen environment—thanks in part to his previous work with assistant coach Ismael Camenforte, who had served at the club.
Despite a slow start to the season, marked by early losses and significant player turnover—including exits of Florian Wirtz and Granit Xhaka—Hjulmand remains optimistic. With over €170 million invested in new signings like Ibrahim Maza and Malik Tillman, he believes the squad has quality and just needs time to gel.
