Human rights activist and political figure Omoyele Sowore has led a protest involving a group of retired military and paramilitary officers demanding the full payment of their pension entitlements. The demonstration took place in Abuja, where the retirees gathered to express frustration over years of unpaid or irregular pension disbursements despite serving the nation.

Sowore, addressing the crowd, stated that the continued neglect of the welfare of retired officers is a stain on the government’s conscience. He called on relevant authorities, including the Pension Commission and the Ministry of Finance, to urgently address the issue and fulfil their constitutional obligations. Protesters carried placards with messages such as “We served Nigeria, we deserve dignity” and “Pay our pensions now,” insisting they will continue the protest until their demands are met.
