INEC Records Over 3.5 Million CVR Pre-Registrations in Just Three Weeks

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that 3,544,850 Nigerians have pre-registered online for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise since its launch on 18 August 2025, according to data released as of 7 September 2025.


Of those registrants, 48.24 per cent (1,709,933) are male, while 51.76 per cent (1,834,917) are female. Young adults aged 18-34 dominate the numbers, comprising 64.65 per cent (2,291,809) of online pre-registrants, while students make up 24.89 per cent (882,441).


Physical registration, which began a week later on 25 August 2025, has also made headway. As of 4 September 2025, 288,614 people had completed the face-to-face process.


Meanwhile, 45.96 per cent (132,634) were male and 54.04 per cent (155,980) were female. A notable 74.64 per cent (215,414) of these registrants are within the 18-34 age band, and 39.55 per cent (114,150) are students.


INEC has made full breakdowns by state, gender, age, occupation, and disability publicly available on its official platforms. The commission reiterated that only Nigerians aged 18 years and above are eligible to register, warning that encouraging underage registration remains illegal.
