 Ashmusy

Nigerian media personality and social media content creator, Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has revealed that she is no longer in a rush to get married after successfully freezing her eggs.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the Echo Room podcast, the 30-year-old influencer opened up about how the procedure has completely alleviated the societal pressure often placed on women regarding their biological clocks. Ashmusy confessed that she previously felt so desperate to have children before the age of 35 that she almost walked down the aisle with a partner she knew deep down was not her ideal husband.

“I want to get married, but I am not desperate. Just in case the right suitor doesn't come, I am already safeguarded. I am already sure of being a mom by God's grace," she shared. "Honestly, most women who rush into marriage early do so because of the myth of the biological clock. With that rush, you now end up getting into the wrong marriage. I almost did. I knew the man wasn't my ideal husband, but I wanted to get married to him because he was ready."

In a separate interview detailing the emotional journey behind her decision, Ashmusy added that a string of failed, serious relationships made her realize that many modern men lack the emotional availability and maturity required for marriage. Desiring to protect her dream of motherhood without settling for an unsuitable partner, she began conducting extensive medical research—inspired in part by former Big Brother Naija star Uriel Oputa, who underwent the same procedure a few years prior.

With her eggs safely preserved, Ashmusy stated she now possesses absolute peace of mind and is giving herself a timeline of three to ten years to comfortably start her family, noting a personal desire to have a mixed-race child via artificial insemination or IVF if a compatible partner does not emerge.
