Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur Ife Agoro has sparked widespread conversation after revealing her decision to use a surrogate despite having no fertility issues and a healthy womb. Speaking candidly on social media, Agoro said her choice is personal and intentional, aimed at taking control of her motherhood journey on her own terms.

“I’m not infertile. I just don’t want to go through pregnancy,” she said, adding that the emotional, physical, and career-related implications of pregnancy influenced her decision. According to Agoro, the pressure women face to justify unconventional paths to motherhood is unfair and deeply rooted in societal expectations.

Her announcement has drawn both support and criticism online. While many applauded her honesty and bravery, others questioned the rationale behind bypassing natural conception when no medical condition necessitates surrogacy. In response, Agoro emphasized the importance of respecting individual choices, especially concerning women's bodies and reproductive autonomy.

The conversation comes amid growing awareness and acceptance of alternative family-building options in Nigeria, including IVF and surrogacy. Agoro’s stance challenges traditional narratives and encourages more open discussions around motherhood, choice, and agency.
