Hilda Baci Reduces Rice from 250 to 200 bags

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has revealed why she reduced her plan to cook 250 bags of Nigerian-style jollof rice to 200 in her latest Guinness World Record attempt.

Speaking at the event in Lagos, she said the decision was driven by technical and safety limitations associated with the weighing process. The crane and measuring scale being used can handle a maximum of 20,000 kilogrammes, which would have been exceeded if the full plan had gone ahead, including the custom-made pot.

By using 200 bags (equivalent to about 4,000 kg of rice), she is still set to feed some 20,000 people.

Organising the event has been a massive undertaking. It took almost a year of planning, including two months to fabricate the special pot and approximately nine hours to cook the meal.
