Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has made it clear that the giant pot used in her Guinness World Record feat will not be auctioned, sold, or taken off public display. Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, she described the pot as much more than cooking equipment, a symbol of history, faith, and innovation. She said many people have requested to buy or auction it, but she is set on preserving it as part of the national heritage.
She added that the pot will undergo restoration to return it to a form close to its original state so that it can be displayed permanently for people to see. Her hope is that even 10 or 20 years from now, Nigerians and global visitors will still see it and remember the achievement.
The pot was used to cook a world-record breaking serving of Nigerian jollof rice weighing 8,780 kilograms in collaboration with Gino Nigeria in Victoria Island, Lagos. Guinness World Records confirmed the feat.
Hilda stressed that though the record has drawn global attention, the essence of the project is to celebrate culture and community, not commercial gains. She emphasised that the pot’s value lies in its capacity to inspire future generations.
