Hilda Baci, World's Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

With just 24 hours to go, Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has revealed exciting final changes for her much-anticipated “World’s Largest Pot of Jollof Rice” event.

She has confirmed that the venue has been switched to Eko Hotel & Suites, Car Park B, Victoria Island, Lagos, a move driven by the overwhelming number of people who registered to attend.

Originally planned for Muri Okunola Park, the event’s organisers noted that the original site, capable of accommodating around 3,000 to 3,500 people, could not safely hold the demand, which has already topped 20,000 registered attendees.

In addition to announcing the new larger venue, Hilda Baci assured the public that the event will be free for all attendees. There will be no cost for attendance or for the meal itself.

The event, set for Friday 12 September 2025, will start at 9 a.m. The spectacle centres on a specially-designed pot with a capacity of 22,619 litres, which will be used to cook approximately 250 bags of rice, filled to about 80%.

Beyond the Guinness World Record attempt, attendees can expect cultural showcases, live entertainment, food exhibitions and immersive experiences, all parts of what has been described as a bold celebration of culture, community, and heritage.
