Hilda Baci, Guinness World Record, Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci launched her much-anticipated attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, aiming to highlight Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage on the global stage.

The towering custom-made pot measures six metres in width and has a 22,619, litre capacity. Using about 250 bags of rice, which equates to roughly 5,278 kilograms, Hilda intends to serve thousands of free meals to supporters.

Over 20,000 people have already registered to attend the event, with celebrities, food lovers, and influencers gathering to cheer on the chef. The venue was last-minute shifted from Muri Okunola Park to the larger Eko Hotel car park to accommodate the massive turnout.

Hilda, known for setting the Guinness World Record in 2023 for the longest cookathon, has taken care to ensure hygiene: she personally washed the giant pot ahead of the cooking. She has also emphasised that the event is free to the public, reinforcing its role not just as a record attempt but as a celebration of unity and Nigerian culture.

The Guinness World Records organisation has officially confirmed their support and will review all evidence once the attempt is completed. Many await the outcome with anticipation as Nigeria strives to add another culinary feat to its achievements.
