"He is the Right Profile": Guti Backs Jose Mourinho for Real Madrid Return

Real Madrid legend Guti has publicly urged the club’s board to consider reappointing Jose Mourinho as the next manager at the Santiago Bernabéu. The former midfielder argued that the "Special One" possesses the specific tactical ruthlessness and psychological profile required to lead the club’s current generation of stars.
Guti’s endorsement comes at a pivotal time as speculation regarding the long-term future of the Madrid dugout intensifies. He pointed out that Mourinho’s previous tenure (2010–2013) laid the defensive and transitional foundations that allowed the club to dominate Europe in the decade that followed. "Madrid needs a leader who isn't afraid of the pressure or the noise," Guti remarked, suggesting that Mourinho's ability to act as a "lightning rod" for his players remains his greatest asset.
Guti believes Mourinho’s discipline would benefit the club's younger core, ensuring high standards are maintained in a post-Ancelotti era. While often labeled "defensive," Guti noted that Mourinho’s Madrid still holds the record for the most goals (121) and points (100) in a single La Liga season. With the Champions League becoming increasingly competitive, Guti argued that Mourinho’s "knockout specialist" reputation is exactly what the Merengues need to stay ahead of state-funded rivals.
Despite the controversial end to his first stint in Spain, which saw friction with several dressing room heavyweights, Guti insists that both the manager and the club have evolved. He suggested that a "matured" Mourinho, combined with the current infrastructure at the Bernabéu, could be a recipe for immediate domestic and European success.
During his three seasons in Madrid, Mourinho won one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey, and reached three consecutive Champions League semi-finals, famously breaking the domestic dominance of Pep Guardiola's Barcelona.
Do you think a Mourinho return would bring the discipline Real Madrid needs, or would his controversial style cause too much friction in the modern dressing room? Share your comments below!
