Legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani passed away at the age of 91 on 4 September 2025, at his home in Milan, his fashion house announced with “infinite sorrow”.
Affectionately known as “Re Giorgio,” Armani reshaped modern fashion with his effortlessly elegant and minimalist aesthetic. He introduced unstructured tailoring, refined menswear, and power suits that defined both boardroom and red-carpet style.
His creative empire, spanning clothing, accessories, fragrances, interiors, and hospitality, remained entirely under his control, reflecting his philosophy of independence.
Armani remained CEO and creative director until his final days, overseeing his brand of over USD 10–12 billion annually. A public memorial will be held at the Armani/Teatro in Milan on 6 and 7 September, ahead of a private funeral in accordance with his wishes.
Tributes poured in globally and from Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who hailed him as a symbol of “Made in Italy,” to figures across fashion and film, all recognising his enduring influence.
Armani’s passing marks the end of an era defined by quiet luxury, timeless vision, and uncompromising elegance. His legacy continues in the fabric of global fashion.
