Tiffany Slaton, a 28-year-old woman from Jeffersonville, Georgia, has been found alive after surviving nearly three weeks alone in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Her ordeal began in mid-April when a planned three-day solo camping trip turned into a harrowing survival experience. After falling off a cliff and losing consciousness for about two hours, Slaton sustained severe leg injuries, which she managed to treat herself by splinting one leg and realigning her knee. Stranded over 40 miles from her original route, she faced extreme conditions, including 13 snowstorms and encounters with wildlife. With no equipment or food, she survived by foraging wild leeks and melting snow for water. Her background as a trained horticulturist and archer aided her in enduring the harsh environment.

Slaton was discovered on May 14 at the Vermilion Valley Resort near Lake Edison by resort owner Christopher Gutierrez, who had left the cabins unlocked during the off-season for emergencies. Upon finding her, Gutierrez provided food and shelter before she was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Despite some eye damage and significant weight loss, her bloodwork was reportedly perfect. She celebrated her 28th birthday the day after her rescue. Slaton's survival story has been hailed as a testament to human resilience and the importance of preparedness in wilderness settings.
