Disgraced former U.S. congressman George Santos has posted an emotional farewell message on social media as he prepares to begin his 87-month federal prison sentence starting tomorrow. In the post, Santos wrote, “I may be leaving the stage (for now), but trust me, legends never truly exit,” signaling defiance and a hint of a possible comeback.

Santos was convicted on multiple counts including wire fraud, identity theft, and campaign finance violations following months of legal battles and public controversy. The sentence marks one of the longest ever handed to a former member of Congress in recent U.S. history.

Despite the conviction, Santos remains vocal, insisting he was unfairly targeted and maintains his innocence.
