France to Officially Recognize Palestinian State in September – President Macron

President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will formally recognize the State of Palestine in September 2025. The decision, he said, is part of France’s long-standing support for a two-state solution and comes amid renewed international pressure to find a lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Speaking during a press conference at the Élysée Palace, Macron said, “The time has come for France to take a decisive step toward peace. In September, we will recognize the State of Palestine as a sovereign nation, with full diplomatic rights and responsibilities.”
Macron stressed that the recognition does not equate to hostility toward Israel but rather aims to push both sides toward a negotiated and fair settlement. “Recognizing Palestine is not a gesture against Israel, but a call for dialogue, peace, and mutual respect,” he added.
France will become one of the most influential Western nations to take such a step, following earlier recognitions by countries like Spain, Norway, and Ireland.
