Forest Confirm Ange Postecoglou as New Head Coach Following Nuno’s Exit

Nottingham Forest have officially appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach, following the departure of Nuno Espírito Santo, the club confirmed today. Postecoglou will assume managerial duties just in time for Forest’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Arsenal.
Nuno was dismissed after a breakdown in relations with club owner Evangelos Marinakis, compounded by frustrations over transfer dealings and internal friction with Forest’s newly-appointed head of global football, Edu Gaspar.
Despite guiding the team to a remarkable seventh-place finish in 2024–25, their best in three decades, and Europa League qualification, tensions ultimately proved insurmountable.
Postecoglou, recently sacked by Tottenham despite winning the Europa League, had been viewed by Forest’s hierarchy, and Marinakis personally, as a leading candidate for the role. His attacking style and prior success align well with the club’s ambitions for a fresh chapter.
This decision signals a clear shift in direction for Forest’s on-field strategy, emphasising dynamic, forward-thinking football. The club has expressed gratitude to Nuno for his contributions, particularly during the historic 2024–25 campaign, as they move forward under new leadership.
