FG Unveils N10 Million TISSF Loan Scheme for Tertiary Institution Workers
Omoyeni Olabode

The Federal Government has launched the Tertiary Institution Social Safety Net Fund (TISSF), a new initiative designed to support staff of public tertiary institutions with financial assistance of up to ₦10 million. The loan is targeted at both academic and non-academic staff and aims to ease economic burdens currently faced by workers in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. It is being managed by the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board, with provisions for flexible repayment plans.
According to the authorities, the loan will be given at a competitive interest rate, and applicants must be active staff members of recognized public tertiary institutions. While the full guidelines are still being finalized, the scheme is expected to cover needs like housing, welfare, and other pressing financial obligations. The introduction of TISSF is to boost morale and provide meaningful support to education sector workers who have long expressed concerns about rising costs and stagnant earnings.
