FG Approves N700,000 Imprest Limit for Ministers, Top Officials
Omoyeni Olabode

The Federal Government has approved a new imprest spending limit of N700,000 for Ministers and other high-ranking officials in its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
This directive, issued through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, is part of efforts to standardize cash advances for public officials across all sectors. The imprest limit serves as the maximum amount these officials can withdraw as cash advance for official duties before seeking reimbursement or further approval.
The move is expected to enhance financial discipline and ensure better tracking of government funds. It applies to all political appointees and top-level civil servants, including Permanent Secretaries and Directors-General.
