FCT Doctors Vow to Continue Strike Until Demands Are Met

Resident doctors under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) have vowed to continue their strike until all outstanding demands are addressed.
Speaking in Abuja, ARD-FCTA President Dr. George Ebong said the government failed to honour agreements reached six weeks ago, including the payment of salary arrears, Medical Residency Training Funds for 142 doctors, and proper placement of new recruits.
Ebong lamented that 28 doctors employed in 2023 and others hired earlier this year have yet to receive any payment. He also decried the poor condition of FCTA hospitals and irregular salary payments.
The doctors insisted that their strike would continue even if the national body, NARD, suspends its industrial action, urging FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to intervene and ensure full implementation of earlier approvals.
