Nollywood actress Judy Austin, the wife of actor Yul Edochie, has taken legal action by filing defamation lawsuits demanding over ₦2 billion in total damages against her ex-husband, Emmanuel Obasi, and veteran actress Rita Edochie. The legal move comes after months of public disputes, viral interviews, and social media commentary surrounding her past marriage and current relationship with Yul Edochie.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress shared copies of the court documents filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. In the suits, Judy Austin is demanding ₦1 billion in damages from her ex-husband, Emmanuel Obasi, over statements he made during recent media appearances—including his interview on The Honest Bunch podcast—where he alleged infidelity during their marriage. Simultaneously, she filed a separate ₦1 billion defamation suit against veteran actress Rita Edochie over alleged persistent defamatory remarks and social media posts targeted at her character.

“Enough is enough. For a long time, I have stayed silent while false narratives, lies, and deliberate character assassination were pushed against me online. I have now taken legal steps to defend my name, dignity, and family.”

According to reports covering the defamation suit filings, Judy Austin maintains that her previous marriage to Emmanuel Obasi had legally ended before her relationship with Yul Edochie began, refuting all claims of extra-marital affairs. In addition to the monetary compensation, her legal team is seeking formal court injunctions restraining both defendants from making further defamatory statements or media publications against her.
