Nationwide Strike

Nigerian doctors have announced plans to commence a nationwide strike starting Thursday, citing unresolved issues with the Federal Government. The decision was confirmed by leaders of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), who expressed frustration over unpaid salaries, poor working conditions, and stalled agreements on welfare and hazard allowances.

According to the unions, repeated meetings with government representatives have failed to yield tangible results, forcing them to take industrial action to demand better treatment. They argue that despite promises from the authorities, most health workers continue to work under unsafe and demoralizing conditions.

Hospitals across the country are expected to experience disruptions in services as doctors withdraw from both outpatient and emergency duties. The associations, however, noted that the strike would be indefinite until all demands are met. They also called on the public to bear with them and direct blame to government inaction.
