Charly Boy Reacts as Iconic Bus Stop Is Renamed ‘Badoo’

Veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has strongly condemned the recent renaming of the popular “Charly Boy Bus Stop” in Gbagada, Lagos, to “Badoo.” The location, which had been popularly referred to as Charly Boy for decades.
The 74-year-old music icon emphasized that his name and legacy were not built through political favours or government support but earned through years of consistent advocacy and public service. “My legacy cannot be renamed,” he said. “What I represent lives in the hearts of the people, and no cheap attempt at revisionism can take that away.” Many Lagosians have since taken to social media, voicing their disapproval of the name change and calling for the restoration of the original identity.
