A permanent Central Perk Coffeehouse inspired by the hit 1990s sitcom Friends is set to open in New York City this fall. The new venue will be located at the corner of 47th Street and Seventh Avenue in Times Square.
The first full-time Central Perk café launched in Boston in 2023, created with restaurateur Tom Colicchio. It offers artisanal coffees, a themed menu, the signature orange sofa and television-show inspired décor alongside merchandise and specially named coffee blends.
Like the Boston location, the Manhattan coffeehouse will sell pastries, sandwiches and salads. It will also carry the six original Central Perk coffee blends in ground, whole bean and compostable capsule formats. Fans inside the café can expect an homage to the show’s iconic settings, including an “Orange Sofa Room” modelled after the famous couch where Friends’ characters often gathered.
Peter van Roden, EVP at Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, said that Friends remains “one of those rare shows that continues to bring people together, generation after generation” and that Central Perk was always the “home base” of the show. He described the Times Square spot as perfectly capturing the energy, spirit and global love for Friends in the city where it all began.
Paul Landino of CenPer Holdings said the Boston opening always included plans to expand to New York City, allowing fans in the city to “create their own stories in the city where the series was set.”
The Central Perk Coffeehouse in Times Square will open in late Fall 2025.
