Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has confirmed reports that he rejected a lucrative move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. Speaking to the press, the Portuguese midfielder revealed, “The president called me, I’ve rejected,” referring to direct interest from the Saudi club.

Fernandes further explained that his decision to stay was influenced by multiple factors. “I spoke to Amorim. He asked me not to go,” he said, referencing Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim, indicating personal and professional ties played a role in his choice.

He also clarified Manchester United’s stance on the potential transfer. “Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. And they don’t need the money,” he stated, emphasizing the club’s financial stability and their desire to keep him at Old Trafford.

Despite the strong interest and financial incentives, Fernandes noted that the door wasn’t entirely closed. “But if I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen,” he admitted, suggesting the final decision rested squarely with him—and he chose to stay.
