“Breaking the Jinx” — Biodun Oyebanji Sworn In for Historic Second Term as Ekiti Governor, Pledges Expanded Opportunities

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, have officially taken their oaths of office for a second four-year term, marking a watershed moment in the political history of the state.
Administered by the State Chief Judge, Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye, the swearing-in ceremony took place before a mammoth crowd of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and supporters at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti. Oyebanji’s inauguration formally shatters Ekiti’s historic "succession jinx," making him the first governor in the state's democratic history to successfully secure and transition into a consecutive second term in office.
In his inaugural address, Governor Oyebanji expressed profound gratitude to the electorate, dedicating his renewed mandate to deepened infrastructural development, heightened agricultural productivity, and expanded economic opportunities for the people of Ekiti.
"Your mandate is honoured through an uncommon virtue, the capacity to listen without surrendering the courage to decide. You have renewed our privilege to serve."
— President Bola Tinubu
As the administration steps into its next four-year trajectory, attention now shifts toward the reconstitution of the state executive council and the aggressive execution of developmental blueprints aimed at transforming Ekiti's economic landscape.
