Bishop Oyedepo Pledges to Build 1,000 Churches Before His Death

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), declared during a sermon on June 9, 2025, that he made a solemn vow to God to build 1,000 churches before exiting the earth. Preaching at the church’s Ota headquarters in Ogun State, he revealed this commitment predates even having his first bank account, driven by a heartfelt desire to glorify Jesus Christ through soul‑winning infrastructure.
According to Oyedepo, his covenant with Jesus was never about wealth or personal acclaim, but about leaving a tangible legacy of spiritual impact. “I told Jesus I don’t want to come to heaven without a thousand churches built in your name,” he emphatically said. This vow reflects his belief that God’s blessings should manifest in service to others and expansion of the Kingdom.
During the sermon, Oyedepo challenged his congregation to reflect on personal stewardship. He specifically called out those with unused resources—like idle vehicles or property—that could be repurposed for ministry. “Some people have buses parked at home on Sundays, but they won’t bring them out to convey others to church. It’s not about cost. It’s about the heart,” he urged. He stressed that true faith expresses itself through tangible acts of service.
Beyond the figure of 1,000 churches, Bishop Oyedepo’s vision aims to inspire a generation of Christians to convert their blessings into Kingdom service. He reminded congregants that every believer is called to reflect God’s work in the earth, urging them to ask themselves: “What will your spiritual legacy be?” . His call to “wake up” and actively participate in expansion efforts resonated, as he emphasized that the promise of blessing is intertwined with the responsibility to serve.
